Understanding EOS

EOS is a platform built for developing distributed apps. EOS aims to become a decentralized operating system that can support the industrial-scale decentralized application.

EOS was formally launched in 2017 by Block One, based in the Cayman Islands. EOS CEO, Brendon Blumer, has been involved in blockchain since 2014. Previously, he has been involved in companies that dealt with currency exchanges in MMORPGs and in real estate.

EOS CTO, Dan Larimer is the creator of delegated proof-of-stake and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO's). He is also the man behind BitShares and Steem.

The creators of EOS are planning to completely remove transaction fees. EOS claims to have the ability to conduct millions of transactions per second.

EOS currently is the largest active blockchain which means that most of the blockchain activity performs in EOS.

EOS blockchain accounts for around 79.5% of all the transactions and activity on all blockchains.

Despite its massive share of activity, EOS investors are only around 5.1% of all investors. The majority of investors invest in Ethereum (ETH), which has had many complaints about its excessive or expensive transaction fees.
